Goodbye, Galleries

At the time of writing, the days are numbered for my galleries. If you catch this post late, that link would be taking you to a portfolio – as we are currently in the throes of reconstructing this website entirely. In this renovation process, I reluctantly released my affectionate hold on the galleries section of the website. For those of you who had never visited the page, it looked like this:

A curious way to apportion images, one may think. Let me explain, as I have never previously shared the reasoning behind putting my images in these four brackets. I haven't yet photographed in every conceivable habitat, but those I have worked in can be grouped loosely as above. These categories have been selected to reflect the approximate flow of life-giving water in a way that subliminally implants a realisation in the viewer – given that one starts at "Forest" and follows the prompts onto the others, of course.

Seeing that they will soon cease to exist, I am sharing the galleries here, along with the blurb for each. While many of these were never shared on social media, if you visited my debut solo exhibition in Port of Spain at the end of 2023, more than a few of these would be familiar.

Forest

Endless hues of green paint a landscape of deep roots and high crowns, ancient trees connecting earth to sky.

Savanna

Savannas come in many forms. Whether wet, dry, or in-between, life persists.

Wetland

Existing on a boundary between two powerful elements, wetlands define what it means to be fluid.

Ocean

Incomprehensibly vast, the ocean is a lesson in trusting the unknown, for from it came life.

A select few of the images featured here may reappear in my portfolio – but when that becomes visible you would notice that we opted for the "less is more" approach. A tough call when there are hundreds of images begging to be thrown into the ether, for sure.
