Passing through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya was just as seamless and stress-less as it was five years ago. Our previous safari experience was at the very end of the dry season; the land was parched and cracked, constantly in eager expectation of gathering clouds and rumbling thunder that never came during our time there.
This time, we went in June, when the land had been well watered and the sky washed for three months prior. It was green season and what I now knew with all certainty, the best time for safari - and the time of year we will be returning to East Africa each year going forward.
Truth is that our first safari was done with all intentions of returning with regularity, but 2019 was not the most ideal year to commence annual travel operations. With the plague having run its course (mostly) we are picking up where we left off.
It is impossible to post a single blog article with a highlight reel of three weeks on safari. Kenya has outlawed hunting of any kind since the 1970s so animal life there is as abundant as ever - consequently I was forced to empty my memory cards every night for fear of running out of space. Thousands upon thousands of images were created, most of which were deleted. I ended up with around 520 "keepers" - a little too many to feature here.
I will also be updating my galleries on this website (which I know are grossly out of date) as well as several other sections - most notably the tours section. International travel is beckoning, and I can't wait to take you there.
I'm putting a few images in a gallery here, please click the image to view it large and then scroll through.
I highly advise considering a safari. Whether with me or not - it is fundamentally life-changing. Our tours have no money going to any companies in the global north, which is why our costs tend to be much more reasonable without compromising quality - in case you are wondering. We are running three trips next year to Kenya from late May into June. Some spots are already taken. There is also a single trip to Uganda in June 2025 - one space is still open for that tour. Kindly contact me if you're interested in coming along!
